Better late than never, am I right boys?
I actually don't know. Am I right? Probably I am, to get a newsletter out is better than none at all. Even if it is a little late. For excuses, I have moving out and medical things. But also exhaustion.
Thank you so much to everyone who signed up after my little impromptu (but prewritten) post this Friday. If you haven't had a chance to read it, here it is.
Anyways, after the hecticness of packing and leaving my current farm for a cross-continental drive to the in-laws, I finally have a tarot reading for you all.
Tarot for the week of 21/11/22: King of Swords Reversed
It’s all about boundaries baby. Especially with this card. And boy can I feel it myself these days. As the ideas and times and things we have to do all coalesce.
What always strikes me about this card is the juxtaposition of the throne. Butterflies are made of stone. Very poetic. Oh so very ripe for picking over and analysing. The Swords being the suit of thoughts and the element air, and the king being a character of application (where the queen is one of understanding or integration), makes the interpretation pretty clear. Boundaries are what allow you to wield your thoughts to their full effect.
When I see the king of swords I see their feet in the clouds, the mire of every day, the forests trees and valleys. But their head stays true in the clouds. And protected, so very protected, by the strong stone throne behind their head. This is a clearness of vision and protection that one can get when they are truly in control of their thoughts. And not the thoughts controlling them.
But the card is upside down I hear you say. And you’re right to do so. Here I am preaching boundaries and doesn’t this mean the opposite is true? That we should let down all our walls? Last week I talked about the meanings of reversed cards, at least a little, but the message is often adjacent, not opposite. The King of Swords Reversed is still telling you to keep your boundaries, to keep your head clear, and to focus on your intent and your own thoughts. But is also asking a question: do all these boundaries still serve me?
We make boundaries for all sorts of reasons. To protect ourselves from previous harm is a classic one. But what happens when the situation changes and we are no longer in harm’s way? When is it safe to lower that wall? When is it safe to let people in? To our vision? To our thoughts?
To me this card doesn’t say, tear down your walls. But it does ask you to maybe renovate. Maybe your emotional kitchen could do with being a little more open plan. You can by all means keep your walls up, but maybe install a window or a door. Or some way for someone worthy to pass through.
This week ask yourself:
How am I protecting my hopes and dreams? Where am I needing help with them? How can I let myself feel safer? Where can I make it easier for people to help me? Where can I change my thoughts? How are my thoughts clouding or clearing my sight? How can be both free and protected? Where am I needing to receive love? Where am I needing to give it? How can i build a bridge between those two needs? What does freedom mean to me? What does independance?
I would love to know what these questions bring up for you. Let me know via email or by commenting on this post…
So now for the usual spiel. I do in fact offer Written and Zoom Tarot Readings and will, come to the end of November, have a lot more time for bookings. If you’re interested in getting a reading but have no idea what to ask here is a selection of questions I have answered in my time to get you thinking.
Answering questions like these is such a pleasure and I would love to help you work through things with a fresh pair of eyes. If this sounds like something that you might be interested in, remember that all my offerings are sliding scale to make them as accessible as possible. I am also always available to chat if you want to work something out financially.
Ok, that’s me done. I’m headed cross country.
Catch you in the ether,
