Tarot for the Week of 07/11/22
Meet your desires face to face 🌕 A full moon eclipse and a Scorpio sky make this week spicy 🌶
Here we are again friends, I in your inbox, you frantically opening my messages to see what’s in store this week. And who am I to disappoint? Yet, again I was away last week. In all honesty, I was doing Tarot live it-person and it took the wind right out of me.
In a wonderful way. In a tiring, heart-pressing way. I had forgotten how intense readings in person could be. Taking on someone’s troubles, their questions, and really being there when they need to talk or when they can begin to listen. Holding that space. Wow.
I was, at a Harvest Festival held by friends in the beautiful Sankofa Community Orchard. The night ended with a bonfire. It felt fitting for the closeness to Samhain, a time when cattle would be brought in from pasture and would pass between cleansing fires. A time when the descent to winter really begins.
But enough about me.
Tarot for the week of 07/11/22: Nine of Pentacles Reversed
Let me first state that I love this card. That she and I go way back to a time when I was running a workshop on eye contact at a remote polish castle. This card and I get each other. They’re inspiration for my logo in fact.
But with all that said, when she came out in the reversed position I felt a little trepidation. Just like the figure in this card and the bird they hold, the meaning and I are always face to face. And yet here we are.
So I sat with it.
So much of Tarot, for those who aren’t practising, is spending time learning the language of the card. The meanings behind each of the symbols, the numbers, and the players in the Major Arcana. Then melding them together, a dash of meaning a hint of foresight, a taproot straight to the unconscious. So here are the meanings:
Nines are close to the end of a cycle, they speak of coming home, of completing one’s journey, the home stretch. Pentacles are Earth energy, practicality, material possessions, money, and growth. The lushness of this card suggests, with its overflowing vines and ever-flowing robes is one of contentedness. Of abundance in all senses. So to have it reversed. Eeek!
Upon reflection, this card fits the next week perfectly. Forgive me for getting astrological but not only is the Sun in Scorpio but so are Mercury and Venus. That means that our ways of communication, of giving and receiving love and of feeling ourselves are all having their desires highlighted. Their needs and deep-boned wants are coming to a surface right about now. Add into that, the day after this newsletter comes out we have a lunar eclipse. With the full moon in stubborn Taurus, this brief respite (as the shadow of earth blocks the moon’s light) is a time to release our desires but also to claim them.
So how does the Nine of Pentacles reversed fit into this? Because she calls us to reflect on our self-worth. When all materiality slips away, what have we left but ourselves? I also see this card as a warning of a kind. For those of us hustling or trying to make it to some finish line, this card reminds us that we have to reassess. I have been guilty of this too, with previous newsletters harping on about the “end in sight” when it comes to the farming season. But losing sight of the right now, the abundance around and within us won’t make the end come quicker. It will only make it less sweet. So what really matters for you this week?
What desires am I holding back from? Where am I over-exerting? How can I be more present with where I am at the moment? How can I honour where I am? What can I let go of to help me move more freely? What beliefs have helped me but now hold me back? What desires fill me with excitement? How can I claim them in my every day? How can I act as if I already have exactly what I need?
I would suggest journaling about those few questions before the eclipse on Tuesday. Then take the time, as the moon’s light dwindles to realise all that is not powering you, all that is eclipsing your light, and let that shit go. Write it on paper and burn it, or bury it in the earth, whisper it to the wind or flush it straight down the toilet. Whatever works for you.
So now for the usual spiel. I do in fact offer Written and Zoom Tarot Readings and will, come the end of November, have a lot more time for bookings. If you’re interested in getting a reading but have no idea what to ask here are a selection of questions I have answered in my time to get you thinking.
Answering questions like these is such a pleasure and I would love to help you work through things with a fresh pair of eyes. If this sounds like something that you might be interested in, remember that all my offerings are sliding scale to make them as accessible as possible. I am also always available to chat if you want to work something out financially.
Ok, that’s me done. Off to sit by a river in some unseasonable sun and try to take stock of my desires.
Catch you in the ether,
M
