Great illumination, but also a lobster 🦞 The Moon Reversed
Tarot Reading for 12/09/22 🌕 With a breakdown of the Aces in Tarot
Hi all,
I write to you just after a wedding, a place where I danced, sang, ate cake and danced some more. On this Saturday night in question, the moon was swollen and full in the heady sign of Pisces. It brought watery energy, drenched in memory and deliciously refreshing. I hope your weekends treated you just as well.
General Tarot Reading for the week of 12th September 2022- The Moon Reversed
The card of this week, as a general mood and vibe, is the Moon reversed. The images in this card evoke madness or at least a quickening. The stirring of movement we feel when the moon is full (head injuries are most likely to occur). Not only are there wolves having a good old howl but also; a lobster. Between the two towers, there is a clear path and a less prominent mountain range. It’s an interesting card to come up so soon after the weekend’s Harvest Moon, a time of abundance and celebration. After last week’s card, which asked us to be still and wait it out, this card signals to me the beginning of action. The tidal pull of new information and the decisions it inspires.
The Moon holds an intuitive pull. It’s an intoxicating mix of illumination with a lack of information. In the reversed position The Moon speaks of pulling back the veil. Think of it as an “Ooooh shit, that’s what’s going on!?” kind of moment. While the revelation could leave you reeling, try not to shine a light on other people’s situations. The truth will out. But it may reflect back on you too.
Over the coming days, think about what you feel is hidden from you? What concepts, plans and facts remain elusive? What did you learn from last weeks stillness? How does this week inspire movement in you? What will you do when the light of the moon shows the crustacean within? Pincers and all…
I hope this week is illuminating for you, in all the best ways. Let me know how you felt about The Moon Reversed in your week. If you read last week’s post, I would also love to hear how the Four of Cups Reversed came up for you and any lessons learned..
The Aces in Tarot; potential & beginnings.
As part of my mission to help people learn the Tarot one card at a time, I will be covering a different suit, number or player in the Major Arcana. For today the focus is on the Aces of the Tarot.
When getting an Ace in reading it usually signifies the potential or beginnings of things. Just like in a deck of playing cards the Aces are both the start and the end of the numbers before the court cards (pages, knights, queens and kings) get involved. As such, they are the start and end of smaller cycles. As someone who is a farmer in her day job, and one invested in Seed Keeping at that, I often think of the Aces as seeds. They have all the potential, what matters next is what you do with them. Whether you store them for later, water them, nourish them or discard them is up to you. The potential remains the same.
There is an Ace for each of the suits; swords, cups, pentacles and wands. Within each suit, the meaning of the Ace varies. If you have a Tarot deck available to you I suggest opening it and finding the Aces. Lay them out in front of you and see what symbols you can spot. Try to draw your own conclusions before reading on.
Ace of Swords
Within the Tarot, Swords represent ideas, so with this, the Ace can represent breakthroughs, ideas and mental clarity. The fall of water droplets seen in the Waite-Smtih depiction, I often think of as the shedding of emotions (water) for the cool breeze of a new idea. In its reversed form this card represents reconsidering or even clouded judgement. It also has been said to be a portent for an unexpected pregnancy, in certain lights I could see how it would look like a condom breaking. How true it holds though, that’s anyone's guess.
Ace of Wands
Where Swords are thoughts, wands are actions. Again with the phallic imagery, this card is said to symbolise fertility, but that could be a renewed vigour for life or a project. Not just getting knocked up. Wands are associated with the element fire, and this card seems to be lighting a fire under you. Giving you the passion and enthusiasm to fulfil a goal. In the reversed position a lack of motivation and the weight of a task are more commonly associated, it can also signify delays.
Ace of Cups
Now that we know that Swords are thoughts/air and Wands are actions/fire we get to the emotions of Cups, and the element of water. I often associate this card with the well of life, of inspiration but deep-held emotions. The Ace of Cups can be said to indicate a new relationship along with compassion and creativity. When looking at this card I see a fountain of feelings all bubbling up, at times running against gravity itself. This card tells me that whatever we bottle up must one day come out. In the reversed position the Ace of Cups is associated with repressed emotions and the compassion we need to have for ourselves and not just others.
Ace of Pentacles
Finally, we get to the Ace of Pentacles which is accosted with the material and practical, and of course the element Earth. At times it has been said that getting this card signals the appearance of unexpected financial or material gain, an inheritance or windfall. As with all things, material gain is relative and it’s about what you do with this gain, this boon,
Thank you all for reading. I will be releasing an in-depth Tarotscope like this at the start of each month. Having a full four weeks to let it percolate should help the lesson of the card sink in. In the meantime, I will be releasing weekly general readings with tidbits on how to read the tarot, suggested spreads and other tarot goodies.
