Little embers 🧹 Three of Wands Reversed
Tarot for the week of 06/02/23 🔥 A great adventure does not await, but the Leo full moon might help
Another quick one today, lads.
I’m back on my home turf and the timezone has yet to catch up with me. Or I it. Either way, exhaustion is real and time is not.
Last night we saw the full moon in Leo, bright and swollen in our skies. This full moon was said to bring about illumination and a little upset. Or maybe just the bubblings and stirrings of change.
To me, it hit home that in 6 short weeks, I will begin planting and prepping and farming again. But also that looking that far forward might not let me enjoy the now. So in an effort to enjoy the now, I am trying to focus on each moment as it happens. Each day as it breaks. Each Leo as it full moons.
This week the Tarot card I pulled really hammered the message home for me.
Tarot for the week of 06/02/23: Three of Wands Reversed
We’ve been having a lot of wands at the moment. The Knight of Wands just a month ago and a month before that, the Page of Wands. So now here we find ourselves. Back at the beginning of the cycle of the Minor Arcana. Of the wands at least.
If you’re new to this newsletter to Tarot in general then you’ll likely be wondering what this means. Also welcome (feel free to get in touch)!
When I speak of the Major and Minor Arcana I am talking about the cycles of our lives. The Major Arcana depicts the bigger life events, rights of passage, careers, decades, and longer-term cycles. The 22 cards in the Major Arcana depict the journey from fool to someone less so, and all the people we meet along the way. Coupled with the ups and downs of stories, devastation, adjustment, community, and cooperation. All of it.
The Minor Arcana is this but on a smaller scale. The daily or weekly cycles we go through. Just like the fast-changing moon, and our ever-changing selves. The Minor Arcana is split into four suits, like a deck of regular playing cards. Each of them represents elements and aspects of our lives. In this way, they focus in on the intricacies we experience and offer subtler advice or guidance.
So the Three of Wands, which is close to the beginning of the cycle of the Minor Arcana and in the suit of wands; depicts actions, strength, passion and to an extent creativity. In this card we see a figure in nice robes looking out over a dessert. This dessert is seen throughout the later cards in this suit, where the court cards have crossed the dessert through sheer force of will and now must decide what to do once there. The character in this card holds one wand, like a staff and have two flanking them. This shows support and the bonds made through a uniting action.
But it’s in reverse. This denotes a parallel or adjacent meaning. Instead of looking towards the future, this card is one of returning home. How very apt in my case. In the upright position, this card is one of planning, adventure and the start of a journey. But in this case, it feels like a pause, a delay, a reversion.
Some part of yourself may be finding that stressful. Just more time to stagnate, to slow down. But I think this week it is essential to remember that everything is a cycle. Healing, life, years, the phases of the moon. Speaking of, this firey card and the moon in fiery Leo aligns perfectly. The card hints at feeling frustrated or being unable to start something. And the Leo new moon was likely to shed light on areas that are not working, things that must be cleansed before we can move on.
So think about what you felt last night. Where were you feeling chafing? Feeling the rub, the wind-up? What might you have to remove from your path?
Journaling Prompts for 06/02/23
This week ask yourself:
What cycles am I wanting to restart? Where do I feel I am starting from scratch? How do I feel hindered? What big journey do I have ahead of me? How can I refrain from over planning? How can I bring more presence to where I am right now?
Where am I feeling friction? What was my mood like on sunday night? What (if any) revelations did I have? What areas have I been feeling pressure in? Where have I been feeling ease? How have I contributed to other peoples ease? How have I contributed to friction for them? What is the best way to work with people? Where do I need a little space?
As always, I would love it if you would let me know how this resonates with you.
